Ken Combs Running Store is a specialty run/walk store in Louisville dedicated to runners, walkers and other fitness-minded people. We carry footwear from Asics, Brooks, Saucony, Topo, New Balance, Hoka, Altra, and others. Our apparel selection ranges from running to lifestyle and multisport. We are dedicated to helping athletes meet and exceed their goals with individualized expert advice on shoes, gear, and nutrition.

OUR HISTORY

1980

Ken Combs Running Store was established in November of 1980 by Ken and Sylvia Combs. Ken coached and taught school in the Louisville area since 1956. His tradition of racing, coaching, and teaching spilled over into a retail operation that carries with it the same excellence.

Ken and Sylvia did their part in setting up Louisville’s road running scene and helped make it into what it is today. Ken was instrumental in establishing the Metro Park’s contribution to Louisville's running community.

1991

Ken and Sylvia have since retired from the day-to-day operations of the store. Larry Holt, (Sylvia’s son) carried on the same service and commitment started by his predecessors.

Larry also grew up and went to school in the Louisville area. Running for over 40 years gave him the background to be part of the rich running tradition in Louisville as well as part of the Ken Combs Running Store success.

2023

When Larry was ready to retire he sold the store to Matt Muller, who found a passion for running at a young age.  Matt, like Larry and Ken, carries a commitment to providing an excellent customer experience and care to everyone that walks in the door. 

Under the new leadership, Ken Combs Running Store is dedicated to helping runners and walkers achieve their goals.  With Matt’s passion for running and helping people, he strives for KCRS to bring a positive impact to the local community.
